Weekend mountaineering adventure

Filed In Random

So my friend Dan calls me up on Thursday to see if I want to climb a 14er this weekend. I proceed to try to talk my way out of it cause I not feeling that ambitious. So he’s like ‘Okay then lets climb Devil’s Thumb. It’s a short hike along the Continental Divide and then a rock climb that’s not considered to be that technical.’ So I’m like ‘Sure… Sounds cool...I think I can handle that.’ ...even though I had not done any actual rock climbing in about 4 years. I reckon you just have to test yourself every so often...so here are a few photos and trust me, it’s even more scary and intimidating in person. but we did manage to make it to the top and thankfully make it back down safely with only a few scratches....though I could barely walk the next day.....And who knows? It might even be worthy of doing a painting of sometime soon.

WOW, i checked out this blog to learn more about you!!  what beautiful scenery!  The climb after 4 yr absence sounds like me if I were to ride my horse after all this time, can hardly walkt he next day!

The top of this thing seems like it was underwater at some point and someone put that “cap” on it, it does not look natural, looks like someone found that flatter rock to place on the top........
